TITLE: School Bus Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma.
2. Demonstrate ability to work with children.
3. Prior work experience with disabled children helpful, but not required.
4. An equivalent combination as may be deemed appropriate.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Transportation

JOB GOAL: To provide a safe environment for all passengers that may be riding the bus.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists driver with monitoring student riders assigned to the bus.
2. Assists Special Education students on and off the bus via the service door.
3. Assists in the operation of the wheel chair lift for the ingress and egress of wheelchair students.
4. Responsible for securing students in their seats when restraint systems are warranted.
5. Responsible for securing wheelchair students in their proper travel positions.
6. Assist, when necessary, with monitoring kindergarten students on the mid-day run.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-exempt position. The employment period for the school bus assistant shall be from the first day of school to the last day of school. Salary to be established by the Board. Talbot County Public Schools
