Overview

Were hiring a hands-on General Manager to lead operations at the Sarasota County Landfill. This is not a desk jobyoull be directly involved in daily operations while driving efficiency, safety, and performance. Job Title: General Manager Solid Waste Operations

Location: Sarasota County Landfill

Base pay range

• $100.00/yr - $160.00/yr

What Youll Do

• Run day-to-day landfill operations, including waste disposal, equipment, and site upkeep.
• Lead, train, and motivate crews to meet safety, compliance, and productivity goals.
• Take ownership of budgets, schedules, and resources to keep projects on track and within cost.
• Ensure all operations meet county, state, and federal compliance standards.
• Work side by side with the team to troubleshoot issues, optimize processes, and improve efficiency.
• Build strong working relationships with county officials, contractors, and community partners.
• Push forward sustainability efforts and smart waste management practices.

What Were Looking For

• 5+ years of solid waste management experience (landfill operations strongly preferred).
• Proven success managing high-volume operations and leading teams.
• Solid knowledge of regulatory and environmental compliance.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Comfortable with budgets, planning, and making operational decisions.
• Bachelors degree in a related field a plus, but equivalent experience works too.
