Position Summary: The Coffee Shop Barista will greet customers cheerfully, courteously, and professionally, modeling patience and kindness, with an overall inviting presence to create returning customers. The Coffee Shop Barista is tasked with creating exemplary customer experience for all patrons. This experience is created by handling customers with compassion, serving quality food and drinks in a timely manner, as well as keeping the bar and coffee shop clean.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate hospitality in all interactions with our customers.
• Answer customer questions about what we’re serving and how we’re serving it.
• Take customer orders in an inviting way.
• Receive and process cash payments, as well as card and mobile pay.
• Prepare and serve quality products to our customers.
• Learn how to dial into coffee, espresso, and milk steaming.
• Focus on hospitality by creating an open and inviting environment for the customers.
• Maintain high customer satisfaction by addressing feedback promptly and resolving issues effectively.
• Develop and enforce protocols to ensure high customer satisfaction and handling of customer complaints to ensure rapid and effective resolution.
• Apply a willingness to learn and grow in expertise in the art of making coffee and tea drinks as well as helping develop new drinks and offerings seasonally.
• Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to improve the product offering and service delivery.
• Monitor and restock FOH inventory and alert management when items need to be ordered.
• Keep up with day-to-day activities to ensure a smooth, efficient, and customer-focused environment.
• Help cultivate a positive, team-oriented work culture.
• Maintain a positive work experience for you and your teammates.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, as well as maintaining and cleaning the drink and food equipment.
• Assist with dishes and cleaning the shop.
• Maintain high quality, as well as hygiene and safety procedures.
• Adhere to California Health and safety standards.

Qualifications – Education, Skills, Experience:

• Ability to engage with customers and respond to their needs.
• Must have a valid Food Handlers card.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• A willingness to learn point-of-sale systems and inventory management.
• Excellent time management and a strong work ethic.
• Positive attitude, solid problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, and quick responses in fast-paced settings.
• Friendly, energetic, personable demeanor with passion for great hospitality.
• Having a flexible schedule with the ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a week.

Physical Demands : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The ability to lift 40 lbs., open filing cabinets and bend, stand, or climb on step ladders as necessary.

Work Schedule: Specific days and times TBD, with schedule flexibility to meet position and programs requirements. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Schedule may change based on ministry and organizational needs.
