As a Bartender at Mason Street Grill, you will play a key role in preparing and serving beverages to guests and supporting servers with their drink orders. You will maintain a well-stocked, organized, and clean bar while creating an engaging atmosphere where every guest feels welcomed and cared for.
Mason Street Grill in downtown Milwaukee has become a local favorite for wood-grilled steaks, fresh seafood, handcrafted cocktails, and live jazz music. In addition to great food and drinks, we provide service you can’t find anywhere else. At Mason Street, we want to serve experiences—from the aromas from the grill to the sounds of live music and the taste of a perfectly crafted cocktail.
· Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis, including requisitioning and stocking of beer, wine, spirits, condiments, and produce.
· Prepare and store all garnishes, juices, and perishables daily to ensure product quality.
· Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, take and document drink orders, and prepare beverages using standard recipes and portion control.
· Input orders into the POS system and create checks for all beverages served to maintain accountability.
· Prepare beverages for servers to deliver to guests in the dining room.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and surrounding guest areas throughout the shift.
· Provide beverage and limited food service to guests in the bar area.
· Accurately handle cash, verify charges, and balance all transactions.
· Lock up and secure all beverages, food, and equipment at the end of the shift.
· Perform cleaning tasks including maintaining glassware, bar tools, and workstations according to health standards.
· Respond to special guest requests and assist with guest concerns in a professional manner.
· Adhere strictly to all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations.
· Support security staff when necessary in managing disorderly guests.
· Perform other duties as assigned by management.
· Must have a friendly, professional, and engaging attitude toward guests and co-workers.
· Strong knowledge of beverage preparation, including wine, spirits, beer, and cocktail recipes.
· Ability to recite vintages, regions, liquor specifications, and food menu pairings.
· Ability to carry large trays up to 35 lbs. with one hand while carrying a tray jack.
· Basic math skills to handle cash transactions, balance banks, and complete reports.
· Proficiency in English to communicate clearly with guests and staff.
· Manual dexterity to use bar tools, cut garnishes, and handle bottles and glassware.
· Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods of time.
· Ability to learn and operate POS systems.
· 1–2 years of bartending experience required; prior restaurant experience required.
· Ability to obtain government-required licenses or certificates. Bartending certificate required; TIPS certification preferred.
· Must adhere to Local 122 Collective Bargaining Agreement regulations, with the option to obtain union membership after 90 days of employment.
