Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America's premier processors, buyers, sellers and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT, a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs, has an immediate opportunity for a Welder at our Schlafer operation. The welder is responsible for repairs, fabricating, and assembling custom-designed equipment.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes
• Read blueprints and drawings
• Take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws
• Proficiency with essential machine tools
• Maintain equipment that does not compromise safety while fully complying with approved safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 3-5 years of welding experience
• Strong math skills and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings, pneumatic and electric engineering drawings are a plus
• Must be able to pass a hands-on welding test
• Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs
• Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required
