Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technologist to join our MedStar Shah Medical Group team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting surgical teams during procedures, ensuring that the operating room is prepared and maintained to the highest standards. This position requires a strong understanding of anatomy, surgical procedures, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.

Duties

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons and other medical staff by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
• Ensure all surgical instruments are accounted for before and after the procedure.
• Monitor patient vital signs and assist in basic life support as needed.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to manage medical records and patient information.
• Participate in patient care within various departments, including PICU, critical care, and pediatrics.
• Conduct post-operative care tasks as directed by the surgical team.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the operating room and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures is essential.
• Experience in a hospital setting, particularly in medical-surgical or critical care environments, is preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic is a plus.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
• Ability to monitor vital signs effectively during surgical procedures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Previous experience in pediatrics or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.
