Salary: $41,600 - $52,000 per year (based on experience )

Hosco Shift Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented SQF Practitioner to lead our food safety and quality assurance programs. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards , regulatory requirements, and company policies to uphold the highest standards in food production. Key Responsibilities:

  • SQF Program Management: Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Safe Quality Food (SQF) System to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and customer requirements.
  • Food Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMPs, and ServSafe guidelines to maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Document Control: Develop, update, and manage all food safety documentation, SOPs, and records to support SQF certification and audits.
  • Training & Development: Train employees on food safety procedures, SQF requirements, and best practices in quality assurance.
  • Audits & Inspections: Prepare for and lead internal and external audits, including SQF certification audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Corrective Actions: Identify non-conformances, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to maintain compliance.
  • Supplier & Ingredient Verification: Ensure all raw materials and ingredients meet safety and quality standards through vendor approval processes.
  • Product Quality Control: Monitor production processes, conduct product testing, and maintain quality assurance checks to prevent contamination and foodborne illness risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work closely with kitchen and operations teams to implement best practices, process improvements, and innovative food safety solutions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field ( preferred but not required with equivalent experience ).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a food safety, quality assurance, or SQF Practitioner role within a food manufacturing, commercial kitchen, or food service environment.

Certifications:

  • SQF Practitioner Certification (Required or ability to obtain within 90 days)
  • HACCP Certification (Required)
  • ServSafe Manager Certification (Preferred)

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety regulations.
  • Experience in audit preparation, compliance reporting, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to train and engage kitchen staff in food safety best practices.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in hot or cold kitchen environments.
  • Occasional lifting of 30-50 lbs.
  • Exposure to kitchen equipment, chemicals, and allergens in a food preparation environment.
