Tri-City Mental Health Authority is seeking a licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a newly established position under California’s AB 890 Section 103. This autonomous role offers a unique opportunity to shape integrated, equitable mental health care for our community. Currently, this position is designated to work a 5/40 schedule, Monday - Friday during normal business hours (8AM - 5PM).  Specific shift start and end times for this position may vary depending on the need of the department and agreement with supervisor. THE POSITION As a Nurse Practitioner, you’ll provide comprehensive psychiatric and mental health services, including independent prescribing, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and leadership within a collaborative care team. This position serves individuals and families with complex mental health needs, helping reduce barriers to care through culturally responsive, trauma-informed practice.  This position will report to the Medical Director or a Supervising/Lead Psychiatrist. Key Responsibilities/Examples of Essential Duties*: ~Conduct psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments. ~Diagnose and treat mental health disorders using DSM criteria. ~Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications independently. ~Deliver individual, group, and/or family therapy and psychoeducation. ~Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers to ensure client-centered care. ~Document services in compliance with HIPAA and HITECH standards. ~Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice and licensure. *A full list of essential duties is attached below in the Job Description. Job PDF:  Ideal Candidate QUALIFICATIONS:   Education, Training, and Experience: ~Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) required; or a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred; with emphasis in psychiatric/mental health field. A certificate as a Public Health Nurse is desirable. Experience working with people with serious mental illnesses. ~Completion of at least 4,600 hours (3 full-time equivalent years) of supervised clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner within the five years prior to application, as required for a 103 certification. ~Demonstrated experience providing psychiatric care to individuals with serious mental illness, preferably in public behavioral health or community settings. Licensure/Registration/Certification: ~Current and active California Registered Nurse (RN) license. ~Current and active California Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification. ~Certification by the California Board of Registered Nurse (BRN) as a 103 Nurse Practitioner (NP) under B & P Code 2837.103 ~National Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Nurses Credentialing Center [ANCC], American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP], Pediatric Nursing Certification Board [PNCB]). ~Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license or registration for prescribing controlled substances. ~Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, with a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment. Benefits FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: Sign-on Bonuses:  $2500 for eligible positions. Merit Salary Increases: Annually based on performance, budget availability and supervisor approval. CalPERS Pension: 2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members; employee contributes 7% for Classic and 7.75% for PEPRA. No Social Security.  Vacation:80 hours per year, increasing with years of service with a maximum of 240 hours; cash out option available. Sick Leave: Full-Time employees = 88 hours per year with no cap. Holidays: 11 paid holidays per calendar year plus an additional 16 hours of Floating Holidays. Longevity Pay: $2500 at 5 years of service; $5000 at 10-35 milestone years of service. Flexible Work Schedule: 9/80, 4/10 and/or intermittent teleworking, where applicable and approved by supervisor. ** Health Insurance:Medical (Kaiser HMO), dental (MetLife PPO) and vision coverage (EyeMed) of which 80% is paid by Tri-City Mental Health Authority (TCMHA). Life Insurance: Paid at one times annual salary, paid by Tri-City MHA with additional optional coverage available. Deferred Compensation (457b): Available to interested employees; no employer match.
