Sarah C. Varghese & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our expanding New York No-Fault/PIP Office located in Jericho, NY. This team is comprised of multiple roles and levels including Legal Administrative Support, Legal Secretary, Paralegal, and Attorney. While every day can provide different experiences and opportunities, a typical day as a Litigation Paralegal involves supporting attorneys with both No-Fault arbitration and litigation files. This office allows for collaborative environments with experienced peer mentors. There are no billable hours in this opportunity. This role provides diversity of work and the opportunity for career development. This person in this role will interact with clients, experts, and witnesses throughout the litigation process. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend approximately 60% of the time within the office. Hours for the position are M-F, 8:30 am-5:00 pm or 9:00 am-5:30 pm. Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Arbitration Files
  • Preparing conciliation submissions under supervision of Attorneys
  • Communication with vendors
  • Expert witness involvement
  • Reviewing arbitration files for status updates
  • Significant communication with claim partners
• Litigation Files
  • Involved in motion practice including drafting motions
  • Discovery related tasks
  • Assist in trial preparation
  • Significant communication with claim partners

• Previous Experience required
  • 3+ years of recent civil litigation experience, preferably with no-fault, insurance defense, or personal injury areas of law
  • Background in arbitration files
  • Background in drafting discovery responses, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Familiarity with Civil Court Rules and Procedures
• Key Skills required:

• • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, prioritize workload, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with AAA
• Technology/software experience required
  • Strong software/technical skills
  • Working knowledge of a Case Management system
  • Working Knowledge of a Document Storage system
• Education requirements including licensing and certification
  
  • Prior 
  • • litigation or paralegal experience, paralegal degree/certificate/certification, medical training, or relevant coursework or legal studies degree is required

• Potential starting salary range: $67,376.56 - $90,000.00
• • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
  • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
• Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
