Responsibilities This position is located in the Health Information Management department of the Chula Vista Veterans Home and is responsible for transcribing dictation from a dictation machine, as well as assisting with the screening of incoming Unit Health Records (UHRs), pulling the UHR for clinics, physicians, nursing staff, etc., and miscellaneous filing. Special Requirements Successful completion of a live scan and a pre‑employment physical (including drug testing for certain civil service classifications) will be required. You will need to take and pass an examination for Medical Transcriber to establish eligibility prior to job offer. Veterans are encouraged to utilize the state’s Veterans Preference Program and CalVet’s Veterans Hiring Preference. Working Conditions Employees of CalVet will be required to follow state or county public health guidelines and requirements enacted in accordance with infectious disease prevention and control. Benefits Benefit eligibility may be based on job classification, bargaining unit, time base and length of appointment. The Veterans Home of California‑Chula Vista is located in Southern California (San Diego County). The benefits of working in this facility include free parking and easy bus access.
