Full-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Facility Maintenance Division located at 3515 NE 33rd Terrace
Starting Salary: $20.10/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Possesses the skill and knowledge of working with hand and power tools.
  • Follows instructions and self-motivating.
  • Performs electrical repair and maintains electrical equipment such as installing wall plugs, receptacles, replacing lights, tombstones, ballast and trouble shoot short circuits.
  • Performs repairs and maintains plumbing services.
  • Installs new and repairs current water and sewer lines.
  • Repairs stools, drinking fountains and anything else pertaining to water.
  • Performs basic carpentry inside and outside such as patching, sanding, painting interior and exterior, hanging drywall, mudding, and taping.
  • Performs general inspection of units, greasing and inspections of belts and pullies changing filters.
  • Checks belts and roof units, cleans roof drains and repairs leaks.

Qualifications



REQUIRES completion of a trade school or a shop training program; OR 6 months experience in general maintenance and repair work. May be required to obtain a valid MO Class A,B, or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Department requires CDL license to be obtained within the first 6 months of hire.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
