HVAC Manager – APES HVAC & Plumbing
We’re looking for an HVAC Manager who’s ready to take full ownership of the department and help drive it to the next level. This role is designed to free up executive leadership from day-to-day involvement, so you need to be capable, confident, and committed to building a strong, self-sufficient team.
You’ll lead operations, coach techs, manage job quality, and ensure profitability. If you’re someone who leads by example and lives with an “all gas, no brakes” mindset, then this is the seat for you.
Key Responsibilities Operations & GrowthOwn the department’s goal to increase revenue.
Proactively obtain new customers through any and all means
Stay ready to jump on jobs when coverage is needed or work falls outside the usual scope
Maintain full buy-in to the APES culture and bonus structure
Attend trade shows, sales meetings, and industry events as needed
Review all active jobs daily for pricing, job scope, attached photos, and add-on opportunities
Personally follow up on all estimates until approved or lost
Ensure all installs include required documentation: measure-up sheets, start-up forms, model/serial photos, flush tests, etc.
Make sure all COD calls include inspection reports and APES protection plan offers
Step in on job sites when troubleshooting fails to help techs complete work
Run monthly team meetings with a real agenda, performance shout-outs, vendor and safety training
Lead low-temp training for the team
Manage tech on-call rotations
Register all new installs for warranty
Oversee proper stocking of trucks and tools, including lists for standard inventory, tech-supplied tools, and company gear
Review next-day jobs to ensure the right tech is assigned and routing is efficient
Collaborate with dispatch before leaving the office or when available
Review and sign off on payroll, watching for errors or inflated commissions
Update pricing as supply and demand changes, keeping us competitively positioned
Review and respond to all emails daily
Email end-of-day summary reports to ownership and GM
Note every job you touch in Fusion for team transparency
Act as the primary contact for property managers, supers, and homeowners
Resolve customer issues immediately and ethically
Negotiate pricing with vendors for equipment and materials
Use portals (SMS, Mainstreet, AH4R, etc.) to send bids and updates quickly
Available by phone day or night. If out of office, have a backup in place and communicate that to leadership
No time off during summer blackout months
Be the first point of contact for techs needing pricing or support
Lead with urgency, ownership, and a commitment to making APES the greatest place to work
