Job Description

Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. At Charter One we pride ourselves on our thorough knowledge of charter school operations, academics, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, and more. We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.

American Leadership Academy - Lexington is now accepting applications for a History Teacher (6-12) for the 2025-2026 school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check,

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement engaging and educational lesson plans that cover historical events, themes, and concepts.
  • Align lesson plans with state and national history standards and curriculum guidelines.
  • Develop instructional materials, including presentations, worksheets, and multimedia resources.
  • Deliver history lessons using a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, group work, and hands-on activities.
  • Use primary and secondary sources, historical documents, and artifacts to enrich the learning experience.
  • Encourage critical thinking and analysis by prompting students to evaluate historical events and perspectives.
  • Create and administer assessments, including tests, quizzes, essays, and projects, to measure student understanding and progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to address behavioral issues and promote a productive learning atmosphere.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with varying levels of prior knowledge and special educational needs.
  • Provide additional support and resources to students who may need extra help understanding historical concepts.
  • Use engaging teaching techniques to make history relevant and interesting to students.
  • Incorporate current events and contemporary issues to connect historical content with students’ lives.
  • Encourage student participation through discussions, debates, and collaborative projects.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with historical scholarship, educational strategies, and teaching technologies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of the history curriculum.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports, grades, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Manage classroom resources and ensure their proper use and maintenance.
  • Participate in school meetings, committees, and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Pass applicable background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in History or related field
  • South Carolina Teaching Certificate
