Job Description

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the Environmental Health & Safety programs throughout the Company. The EH&S Manager is to partner with employees and management to coordinate and effectively communicate all aspects of safety as related to environmental, occupational, emergency response, and industrial hygiene.

Major Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Manage the maintenance and implementation of safety programs, compliance plans and related initiatives within the manufacturing facility.
  • Conduct, coordinate and track all required employee safety based training to include but not limited to new hire orientation, pallet jack, fork lift, confined space, new machine training, continuous on-the-job training, etc.
  • Perform safety audits to include inspection of facilities, machinery and equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and applicable company environmental, health and safety procedures.
  • Participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses and property damage incidents and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Responsible for researching and selecting effective programs and/or vendors to ensure a hazard/accident free, safe work environment is maintained and provided for all employees, outside contractors and visitors.
  • Maintain internal and regulatory reporting including data collection and reporting including but not limited to air and storm water discharge.
  • Ensure the company meets all its legislative compliance obligations with OSHA, EPA, CDC, DOT & NYSDEC
  • Serve as primary contact for all regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting, reporting (air, water, waste).
  • Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
  • Coordinate Industrial Hygiene Testing and Training.
  • Manage workers compensation disability claims.
  • Compile company health and safety metrics to include data analysis, tracking and reporting.

Qualifications:

To be effective in this position, the person must:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or other science field preferred.
  • 5+ years of EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CSP is a plus.
  • Be proficient with MS Office.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local EH&S regulations.
  • You must have the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Training/facilitation experience is strongly desired.
