Job Description
As a Local Driver for Tangent, you will play a vital role in the logistics and operations team by transporting goods safely and efficiently in a pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer. This position also supports warehouse staff in preparing and loading outbound deliveries to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Operate pickup truck with a flatbed trailer vehicle to transport materials to customer sites or between Tangent locations.
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Secure cargo properly using straps, chains, or other load-securing equipment.
- Assist warehouse team in staging, loading, and unloading outbound shipments.
- Coordinate with the warehouse and logistics personnel for route scheduling and delivery confirmations.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including mileage logs, delivery receipts, and inspection forms. Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Represent Tangent in a professional and courteous manner while interacting with customers and partners.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES - Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL is a plus but not required.
- Experience operating flatbed trucks and pickup trucks safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with proper load securement techniques.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) consistently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with a team.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Must be able to operate a forklift or be willing to obtain certification.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to safety in all operations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of driving experience in a similar role.
- Prior warehouse or logistics experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, lift, and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to traverse warehouse and loading dock areas.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor elements during loading/unloading.
