Job Description

As a Local Driver for Tangent, you will play a vital role in the logistics and operations team by transporting goods safely and efficiently in a pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer. This position also supports warehouse staff in preparing and loading outbound deliveries to ensure timely and accurate shipments.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate pickup truck with a flatbed trailer vehicle to transport materials to customer sites or between Tangent locations.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
• Secure cargo properly using straps, chains, or other load-securing equipment.
• Assist warehouse team in staging, loading, and unloading outbound shipments.
• Coordinate with the warehouse and logistics personnel for route scheduling and delivery confirmations.
• Maintain accurate delivery records, including mileage logs, delivery receipts, and inspection forms. Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Represent Tangent in a professional and courteous manner while interacting with customers and partners.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL is a plus but not required.
• Experience operating flatbed trucks and pickup trucks safely and efficiently.
• Familiarity with proper load securement techniques.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) consistently.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with a team.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Must be able to operate a forklift or be willing to obtain certification.
• Must demonstrate a commitment to safety in all operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of driving experience in a similar role.
• Prior warehouse or logistics experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, lift, and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to traverse warehouse and loading dock areas.
• Occasional exposure to outdoor elements during loading/unloading.
