Job Description

We are looking for a Director of Physical Therapy who will direct and supervise all PT department functions, including evaluating patients, prescribing plan of care, administering therapy, educating patients in methods of exercise and use of assistive devices. The PT is also responsible for supervising Physical Therapist Assistants and other PT personnel. The job also includes electronically documenting treatment records as well as daily charges. Physical therapists establish a plan of care to restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or diseases. They help to restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health. Their patients include accident victims, post-operative patients and individuals with disabling conditions such as low back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries, etc.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Physical Therapist educational training

Education: Masters’ or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy

Registration: Licensed as a Physical Therapist to practice in the State of Kansas.

Essential Functions:

* Examine patient’s medical histories, test and measure strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function.
* Determine patient’s ability to be independent and reintegrate into the community and/or workplace after injury or illness.
* Develop treatment plans describing a treatment strategy, its purpose, goals and anticipated outcome.
* Computer skills
* Occasionally lift supplies/equipment, patients of varying weights.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and situations.

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all off the duties assigned.)

1. Selects, trains/orients, and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performances, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.

2. Develops department goals and objectives; establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operation.

3. Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that the department operates within budget.

4. Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for administration, as required.

5. Maintains PT records in accordance with the standards of various accredited regulatory agencies.

6. Plans and offers various in-services, including educational materials and instructions for health care professionals.

7. Participates in and coordinates committee functions related to PT information.

8. Creates and directs procedures to assure proper completion of daily records and reports. Maintains patient chart with all necessary information including attending physician, and/or surgeon, evaluation and plan of care, daily treatment notes, phone notes, daily charges, discharge note and depart date.

9. Maintains proper physician orders for patient treatment.

10. Oversees daily activities of the department to optimize productivity.

11. Develops, implements, and coordinates the department’s continuous quality improvement program.

12. Orders supplies and equipment as needed.

13. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field.

14. Participates in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required. Attends and serves on professional/civic organizations.

15. Maintains reports for monitoring and maintaining hospitals compliance.

16. Serves as the primary resource person for the physical therapy department.

17. Monitors and implements changes in state and federal regulations.

18. Performs pre-certification duties as necessary.

19. Oversees appropriate ICD and CPT coding for each health record.

20. Maintains safe work environment for all department staff.

21. Assumes other responsibilities and functions as necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $92,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
