Dentist - Correctional Contract (Agency Position)

Cell Staff , a leading healthcare staffing agency, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Dentist for a full-time contract position with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) . This role involves providing comprehensive dental care to the incarcerated population at the state correctional facility in Plainview, Texas .

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on an underserved community within a secure and structured environment. The position offers an excellent work-life balance with a 4-day work week , operating Monday through Thursday, 40 hours per week.

Job Summary

As a contract Dentist placed by Cell Staff, you will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing oral diseases and injuries. You will perform a full range of professional dental duties, including routine procedures and emergency care, while adhering to the highest standards of safety and infection control within a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive dental examinations to formulate accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment plans for patients.
• Perform a variety of dental procedures, including restorations (fillings), extractions, root canal therapy, and prosthetic services.
• Manage acute dental emergencies, oral infections, and pain effectively.
• Prescribe appropriate medications and treatments in accordance with established guidelines.
• Supervise and direct the work of dental assistants and other clinical staff.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records in the electronic health record system.
• Strictly adhere to all TDCJ security protocols, policies, and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• Current, unrestricted license to practice dentistry issued by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners .
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive TDCJ background check.
• Experience in a correctional or public health setting is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

This is an agency position with Cell Staff. We are proud to offer our contractors the following:

• Salary Range: $214,000 - $227,000 annually
