We’re looking for a caring, responsible Church Nursery Worker to create a safe and welcoming space for young children during Sunday services and ministry events. This role involves supervising kids, leading simple activities, keeping the nursery clean and secure, and making parents feel confident that their little ones are in good hands. If you love working with children and want to support families while living out your faith, we’d love to have you on the team.

Schedule: Must be available Sundays from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Wednesday availability from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM is preferred but not required.

Wage: $14.70 per hour

Qualifications :

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum of one year of successful experience working with children.
• Coursework in child development or a related field preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification required at hire or must be obtained within 30 days.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine love for working with children.
• Demonstrated Christian character and alignment with The Salvation Army’s values.
• Must pass child safety background clearance and follow Protecting the Mission (PTM) protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a nurturing and spiritually enriching environment for young children during Sunday services.
• Deliver excellent customer service to parents, guardians, and children.
• Ensure vigilant supervision and appropriate, consistent positive discipline.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children of all ages and abilities.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of nursery and childcare areas.
• Adhere to all RJKCCC policies, safety rules, and Protecting the Mission procedures.
• Follow proper check-in and check-out protocols, including maintaining accurate rosters and verifying authorized pickups.
• Communicate promptly and professionally with the Youth Ministry Lead or Corps Officers regarding any concerns involving children, parents, or staff.
• Respond calmly to security or crisis situations and follow up with incident reports as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Participate in required trainings and staff meetings.
• Represent The Salvation Army with respect, dignity, and professionalism in all interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
